The Jacquard: Looks also count

Today contemporary collections, both male and female, need to attract the consumers’ attention and one of the best ways is to present patterned garments, specifically with the Jacquard pattern. Jacquard is one of the techniques in knitting used to create patterns and color effects, almost like in a painting. For a moment you feel like a painter, who expresses on canvas his artistic talent and his cleverness in the use of colors. Knowing how to use colors is a very important skill: I consider the chromatic responses and combinations almost a science – sometimes depending on personal taste -intended as an attitude to search pleasure with sight.

hosio_blog_italian_styleJacquard patterns can be of any kind, the ones I prefer are the geometric types, either maxi or micro, both modern and vintage but always reinterpreted and adapted to the mood of the collection.

Why the Jacquard weaving?
This process is often present in my collections, since my Jacquard is synonymous of breaking the traditional rules. My latest proposals for S/S 17 are inspired by animal skins with a strong graphicalimpact, keeping alive the Hosio link with tradition but also enhancing its spirit,at the same time Urban and Chic.

Why do you need a Jacquard patterned garment?
The best way to express your character, to share a mood, to live a moment in life, is to reveal it through clothing. People usually wear their favorite garmentwhen they feel in good physical and mental condition and ithelps them to start their day in a confident way. Here, in my mind, a HosioJacquard patterned garment aims to become such favorite garment, the one reflecting your own personality, the garment that makes you ‘feel comfortable’ on all occasions.

What is Jacquard?
There are different types of
Jacquard and we can say that the variations are endless because you only need to change the knit stitch, highlighting the design to obtain a different Jacquard. Depending on the number of design colors,we can have a 2-3-4-5-6 colorsJacquard, which is usually the maximum. But be warned that colors should be counted all on the same repeat.

Let us see the main categories:
Tubular Jacquard: t
he easiest to produce and recognize because it is manufactured in 2-colors tubular, the wrong side stitch is the same as the right but the design is inside out.
Plain Jacquard:
each color is always working back andface only when it colors.
Pique Jacquard:if the colors are at least three, it resumes the tubular and plain processing, but in the back it works by alternating the three colors in interlock. (

Curiosity: the Jacquard loom was the first application to have used a punched card and it is considered the ancestor of the computer. (Source Wikipedia)
